MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Washington Township Public library is to provide resources that enhance and contribute to enlightenment in the most efficient manner.

To serve all residents of the community and surrounding region.

To make books, periodicals, pamphlets and other services available to all residents.

WHO MAY USE THE LIBRARY

All residents of Washington Township including Union Township and Greensfork Township. The use of the library may be denied for causes, such as destruction of library property, failure to return library material or pay penalties, or any other illegal or objectionable conduct on library premises.

INTERNET POLICIES

The Washington Township Library provides access to the internet for all citizens of the library’s service area. This services may be restricted if use is not consistent with the guidelines. Parents of minor children must assume responsibility for their children’s use of the library’s internet services.

PATRON RESPONSIBILITY

Patrons must maintain necessary standards of behavior in order to protect his/her individual rights and privileges of other patrons. Those who create a public nuisance may be restricted from the library and the use of the facilities. If they are unwilling to leave within a reasonable amount of time, after being instructed to do so by the staff, will be subjected to the law.

EQUIPMENT USE

Public computers are free to patrons on a first-come, first-served basis. There is not charge for use of the computer. There is a one hour time limit or longer if no other patron is waiting to use the computer.

Computer copies are $.25 per page.

Fax cost $1.00 per page

A copy machine is available to patrons for a cost of $.15.

CHALLENGING MATERIALS

The purpose of the library is to provide carefully selected books and material in the pursuit of pleasure, information, research. Because of budget and space we cannot provide everything that is requested. However, as a member of Evergreen we can borrow from other library’s collections, free of cost to the patrons.

Gifts and donations will be added only if they are appropriate and needed.

BOARD BYLAWS

The name of the board is the Board of Trustees of the Washington Township Public Library. Membership is by application, appointment, term and removal of members of the board is in accordance with Indiana statue. Board appointees must reside in the library taxing district and resided in the district for 2 years before being appointed to the board.

The board operated by virtue of the Indiana Public Library Law of 1947 and assumes its powers and responsibilities under Indiana Code (“I.C”) 36-12.

The board consist of seven members appointed by Randolph County School Board, Randolph County Board of Commissioners, Randolph County Trustee.
